Fred set for Spurs switch

January 16, 2008

t's been a topsy-turvy week of speculation surrounding who will be the next Newcastle boss, with former Chelsea player Didier Deschamps the new front runner.

Lyon striker Fred is expected to join Tottenham Hotspurs in the next 48 hours.

The French champions and they have accepted bids from Paris Saint Germain and Spurs, but the Brazilian's brother and agent Rodrigo confirmed that they would be meeting Spurs' director of football Damien Comolli.

"Yes we are due to meet with Damien Comolli, he will come with a new offer," Rodrigo told L'Equipe.

"If it [the offer] is good, Fred will sign for Tottenham."

Should Fred, as expected, agree terms with Tottenham - then they will sign him a deal worth €12m.
