Mark Hughes is poised for a return to football as manager of Fulham within the next 48 hours.
Hughes, sacked by Manchester City last December, seems certain to replace Roy Hodgson, who left for Liverpool earlier this summer.
The appointment comes after Fulham missed out on number one target Martin Jol last week.
A spokesperson for the club said: “I can confirm that we are hopeful of an announcement within the next 24/48 hours.”
It is believed the ex-Blackburn Rovers and Wales boss will be paid £2 million-a-year at Craven Cottage and will bring in Mark Bowen as his assistant once again.
