Injury-ravaged Milan defender Alessandro Nesta will undergo another back operation on Tuesday to try to save his career.

The former Italy international, 32, has not played this season having suffered with back problems throughout the campaign.

“A.C. Milan announces that Alessandro Nesta will go under the knife tomorrow morning,” the Serie A club said in a statement on Monday.

Milan had hoped a rehabilitation stint in the United States had cured his back problems but he broke down again last week.

David Beckham, who limped out of Sunday’s 2-1 defeat by Inter with a calf injury, has been named in the squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Cup last 32 first leg at Werder Bremen but Kaka is again missing with a foot problem.
