The prospects of Real Madrid’s Dutch pair, Arjen Robben and Ruud van Nistelrooy, are unclear, after the club admitted they were unsure whether the pair had a future in the Spanish capital.

Robben’s future at Santiago Bernabeu remains unresolved despite his father and agent, Hans Robben, meeting with club officials to discuss his son’s role at the club.

Speculation that the winger could be sold to finance more ambitious deals this summer has been rife, but the club revealed that they haven’t received any offers for the player.

Robben senior admits that his son wants to stay in the Spanish capital but he couldn’t confirm whether the Dutch international was in manager Manuel Pellegrini’s plans.

“I have had a meeting with (Jorge) Valdano and (Miguel) Pardeza to speak about my son’s future,” he told AS.

“They have told me that they have not received any offers for Arjen.

“Arjen wants to stay and selling him would be difficult because Madrid paid 36million Euros to Chelsea for him.

“I cannot respond to that (when asked whether it had been assured if his son had a future at the club). But I can say that they said they were happy with him.”

Meanwhile, Real have stated that they remain undecided over the future of fellow Dutchman Ruud Van Nistelrooy. The striker is currently fighting to be fit for the start of the season after undergoing knee surgery in November.

“We are still not decided over the situation of some players like Van Nistelrooy,” a Real Madrid source told skysports.com.

“At the moment we have other priorities and they will wait until next week.”
