Boca Juniors have agreed to sell midfielder Fernando Gago to Real Madrid for over 20 million euros, the Argentinian club have reported.

“The talented Boca midfielder Fernando Gago will be transfered to Real Madrid for $27 million,” Boca said on their web site. “A faxed offer arrived this Wednesday at the club and has been accepted.”

Boca said the player would be unveiled by Real on Friday and that a representative from the club would travel to Madrid next week to complete the deal.

Gago’s signing follows hot on the heels of the arrival of striker Gonzalo Higuain who joined the club for a fee of around 13.0 million euros last week.

Real have also signed Brazilian fullback Marcelo from Fluminense to act as cover for the 33-year-old Roberto Carlos.

He is the eighth signing Real have made since Ramon Calderon took over the presidency in July.
