World Cup winner Gennaro Gattuso has pledged to remain with Milan, even if the club are relegated following the match-fixing trial in Italy.

Milan are one of four clubs, along with Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina awaiting their fate on Friday, with s number of European clubs waiting to pounce should any of the quartet be relegated.

Gattuso has vowed to remain at Milan even if they are demoted to Serie B.

“I spoke to our vice-president Adriano Galliani and told him again that I’m not going anywhere,” Gattuso is quoted as saying in The Sun.

“I’m proud to wear the Milan shirt.

“There’s been so much talk about Milan in the last few months but I still think this is a unique club.

“I have a really long contract with Milan. I won’t quit. Should Milan be relegated to Serie B, I’ll go there too.”
