Steven Gerrard is doubtful for Liverpool’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Juventus afetr struggling to shake off a groin injury.

Gerrard was unable to complete a warm-down with the rest of the squad at the end of the 1-0 defeat at Manchester City and he has been receiving treatment sinse that game finished.

Liverpool are hopeful Gerrard will be able to take his place in the starting eleven on Wednesday, but they may look to Xabi Alonso, who is fit, but has not started a game since breaking a leg on January 1.

Alonso has played only 45 minutes of reserve team football since breaking his ankle against Chelsea on 1 January.
