Steven Gerrard has dismissed reports that he would be interested in joining Real Madrid in the summer.

Speaking after being named as one of Real’s top transfer targets this summer, the England midfielder has once again pledged his future to Liverpool.

“I am not going to get involved in all that kind of speculation again,” he said.

“I’m settled and happy at Liverpool and I am not going to go through another summer like the last two.”

Gerrard had been the subject of two approaches from Chelsea in the last two years but he signed a new four-year deal last summer to reaffirm his commitment to Liverpool.

“I will be staying here until the day someone tells me they don’t want me,” Gerrard added.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez had already dismissed the move from Real.

“The situation is simple, Steven Gerrard is not for sale,” Benitez said on Thursday.

“His commitment to this club is vital.”
