Gil Vicente coach Luis Campos has resigned following last night’s Portuguese Cup defeat by Odivelas.

Campos, in his second spell at the club, having previously coached Gil Vicente in 2000/01, took the team to a 12th-place finish in last season’s SuperLiga.

However, Gil Vicente are currently bottom of the table seven games into the current campaign.

“We spoke with the coach, and he understood our apprehension and offered his resignation,” said vice-president Antonio Fiuza.

“He is a great coach but he had no luck this time.”
