Celta Vigo midfielder Everton Giovanella is free to play this weekend after his two-year ban for a positive drug test was suspended.

The Spanish Football Federation’s Competitions Committee approved a two-year ban on Tuesday. But Celta have appealed the decision, leaving Giovanella available to play.

The Brazilian tested positive for the banned steroid nandrolone in December 2004 in a random test after a second division match against Pontevedra.

He has denied taking the drug and has said that he would go to court to prove his innocence.
