Hakan Sukur, who had been linked with a move to Scttoish club Rangers, is on the brink of joining Besiktas.

“Besiktas believe in me,” claimed the experienced striker. “I can be a success there.

“There are offers from Europe. I cannot play for Galatasaray, at the moment.

“I will write a book about my life. I will explain what I saw in Turkey and Europe involving football.”

Confirmation of the club’s interest came from Besiktas board member Yyldyrym Demiroren.

“We want to see Hakan at Besiktas,” confirmed Demiroren. “If Hakan wants to play, our fans can accept Hakan.

“But he has to have trust in himself. Hakan will talk to Mircea Lucescu.”
