Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves has signed a contract extension with the German champions.

Hargreaves has agreed a four-year extension to his current deal with the Bavarians, keeping him at the Allianz Arena until 2010.

The England international has been linked with a move to the Premiership with Arsenal, and Liverpool reported to be interested in signing him.

“Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge expressed great faith in my ability and helped me come to a quick decision,” Hargreaves told Bayern’s official website.

“I’m looking forward to the years ahead, as I’m confident we’ll continue to enjoy plenty of success.

“We have fantastic support, we now have the best stadium in the world, and we have a team capable of winning the Champions League.”
