Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain will be sidelined for nearly a month, the Primera Division side have confirmed.

The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Madrid’s 2-0 win over Real Mallorca on Sunday night but tests have revealed he has sustained a left foot injury that will keep him out of action for around three weeks.

Higuain’s injury comes as a big blow to Madrid, with the youngster having scored 11 goals in his last 10 matches.

Madrid, who are also be without injured midfielder Rafael van der Vaart, are two points behind leaders Barcelona at the top of the Primera Division standings.
