Alexander Hleb has completed his £11.8m move to Barcelona from Arsenal.

The 27-year-old Belarus midfielder passed a medical on Wednesday and he described his move to the La Liga giant as “a dream”.

“I love this team,” said Hleb.

“I spoke with (coach Pep) Guardiola and it’s very important that he wants me, and I’ll give my best to this team to win everything with Barcelona.”

Hleb arrived at the Nou Camp on the day that Brazilian playmaker Ronaldinho was in Milan having a medical as he prepared to leave the Spanish side.

Hleb had been linked with a move to Inter after he shared a covert meeting with club officials ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League tie with Milan last April, but Barcelona have won the race to sign him.

“Hleb was a priority for us. He is extremely versatile with great footballing skills,” Barca coach Pep Guardiola told a news conference.

Hleb, who joined Arsenal in 2005 from Stuttgart, signaled his departure from the Emirates Stadium earlier in the summer when admitted he was “mentally tired” of living in London.

Hleb becomes Barcelona’s fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Seydou Keita, Gerard Pique, Martin Caceres and Daniel Alves.

Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been linked to the club as a possible replacement for Samuel Eto’o, who has been told he is surplus to requirements.
