Inter president Massimo Moratti remains confident they can agree a deal with Samuel Eto’o to take him to the San Siro.

Eto’o has been offered to Inter by Barcelona in part-exchange for Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola admitted earlier this week it that Eto’o was surplus to requirements at the European champions.

Reports have suggested the deal could collapse due to the wage demands of Eto’o, but Inter are hopeful they will be able to agree a deal.

Moratti is confident a deal will be pushed through to see Eto’o join the Italian champions.

“Until things are wrapped up, there’s nothing to say but I am confident,” Moratti told the club’s official website.

“Eto’o is one of the most important players on the market.

“Along with Ibra, he’s one of the most wanted. It’s a good chance for us to have another champion.”

Moratti also praised Ibrahimovic, who was the top scorer in Serie A last season.

“He’s a very serious professional. He has always behaved well with us,” added Moratti.

“He helped us win the championship and he was top scorer last year.”

Eto’o’s agent is due in Milan on Tuesday to discuss his client’s proposed move to Inter.

“The Cameroonian’s agent, Jose Maria Mesalles, will be in Milan tomorrow (Tuesday) during the day,” said Inter’s technical director Marco Branca.

“The deal has not been finalised, there is still much to talk about, but I’m optimistic.”
