Internazionale’s president Massimo Moratti has confirmed he is interested in signing Carlos Tevez.

“It’s true, we really like the player,” Moratti said of the Argentinian forward. “He has the qualities and the character we need.”

The 23-year-old joined West Ham from Corinthians last summer in a controversial transfer but recently admitted he stopped learning English because he did not know where he would be playing next season.

According to reports in Italy, the club could be ready to offer a £25m deal and have already talked with Tevez’s representative, Kia Joorabchian.

Tevez admitted he would like to play in a team which already contains eight Argentinians.

“It would be nice to play in Italy, especially in a team that has so many Argentinians,” he said.

“I know there will be some meetings and some discussions, but I really don’t know if there is anything official yet.”
