Filippo Inzaghi is fit to make his first start for Milan in five months following a lengthy layoff through injury.

The Italian poacher made an appearance as a second half substitute against Bologna at the weekend and may be included from the start against Messina this evening.

“Finally this terrible period is over,” said Inzaghi.

“I have been away from the pitch for five months and it will take time for me to return to top form. But I am calm, in a little while everyone will be able to admire the real Inzaghi again,”

Milan and Messina are tied on four points each ahead of tonight’s clash at the San Siro. Newly-promoted Messina will be looking for another scalp after their shock 4-3 victory over Roma at the weekend.
