Istres have sacked their Bosnian coach Mehmet Bazdarevic after only one win in 19 matches – a run which has left them rooted to the foot of the French league.
“I leave others to judge my record,” said Bazdarevic who won promotion for the club in his first season last year.
“Perhaps my going will help motivate the players,” he said Monday.
Istres lost 2-0 to Bordeaux in the Cup on Saturday.
