England goalkeeper David James has extended his deal with Portsmouth until the end of the 2009-10 season.
James has an option for a further extension in 2010.
The veteran keeper, who joined Pompey from Manchester City for £1.2m in August 2006, is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career.
“I’m enjoying it at Pompey – it’s a fantastic environment. I never envisaged the club being in this position when I joined,” the 37-year-old told PfcTV.
His form was rewarded by new England coach Fabio Capello who picked the veteran for last month’s friendly against Switzerland.
