Manchester City striker Jo has joined Turkish club Galatasaray on loan for the rest of the season.

The 22-year-old joined Everton on loan for the second half of last season and then rejoined the Toffees in July.

However, the Brazilian was suspended by Everton manager David Moyes earlier this month for returning to South America without permission over Christmas.

Jo’s departure was confirmed by Everton, who said on their website: “Jo has left Everton and returned to Manchester City. Jo was then immediately loaned by City to Galatasaray.

“A season-long loan deal for the player had been agreed between Everton and Manchester City in the summer, but this has been cut short.”

A statement on Galatasaray’s official website read: “Our club have agreed to sign Brazilian Joao Alves de Assis Silva on loan until the end of the season from English Premier League team Manchester City.

“Joao Alves de Assis Silva is welcome and we wish him success in the yellow and red jersey.”

The 6ft 3in forward scored 44 goals in 77 games for CSKA Moscow before joining City in July 2008 on a four-year deal.

In his two loan spells at Goodison Park, Jo made a total of 36 appearances and scored seven goals.
