Tottenham manager Martin Jol has hit out at Arsenal, claiming that without Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira, they are “just another team”.

Henry is injured while Vieira was sold to Juventus in the summer and Jol says the absence of the duo is the reason for Arsenal’s poor start to the season.

The Gunners were beaten by West Brom and Jol told The Independent: “They have just lost again.

“If the big players are not there – and Vieira is gone and Henry is out – maybe Arsenal are the same as other teams.”

Arsenal’s defeat at The Hawthorns was their third this season and they are already 14 points behind Premiership leaders Chelsea.

“Arsenal is different nowadays.

“Arsenal have been better than us but in football history I don’t think that’s been the case.

“Spurs were better than them and maybe one day we will be again. If we get a Henry or Vieira then we will do the same as Arsenal, we have the same set-up with young players and we can grow and grow.

“It is about finding big players. When Henry gets to 35 and cannot play anymore, and Arsenal are looking for a replacement, maybe Tottenham will find him first.

“We have found Aaron Lennon. He will be a big player in the future.”
