Former Lyon midfielder Juninho Pernambucano is set to sign for Vasco da Gama this summer.
Juninho, 36, played for Vasco for six years before signing for Lyon in 2001, and he has spent the last two years in Qatar with Al-Gharafa.
Vasco president Roberto Dinamite has confirmed that Juninho, who won 40 caps for Brazil, is to return to his homeland in the summer.
“Juninho wants to end his career with Vasco and to continue his career for longer,” he said. “Everything will be signed in the coming months but he is coming to Vasco.
“Those who do not know Juninho will one day have the opportunity to see the person he is. What I admire in people is when they take a word, a gesture … and I have seen that with Juninho, who is returning to Vasco because he wants to, because he likes the club.
“Moments like this make us forget the troubles.”
