Serie A outfit Juventus have dismissed reports that Italy international goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon could be on his way to Manchester United.
The 32-year-old had been touted as a possible successor to veteran Edwin van der Sar, who has been tipped to retire next summer.
Reports in Italy claimed United were considering making an €18million offer to sign Buffon in January when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
However, shortly after Buffon’s agent Silvano Martini labelled the speculation as ‘nonsense’ Juventus have now stated no talks have taken place.
“I deny any negotiation with United, Buffon is a Juventus player,” the club’s general director Giuseppe Marotta told Tuttosport.
Buffon is currently out of action with a back problem and is contracted to the Old Lady until the summer of 2013.
