The Italian league has banned a section of Juventus fans from attending the club’s next home game due to their racist abuse of opponents.

Juve supporters sitting in the “curva sud” of the Stadio Olimpico for Wednesday’s 3-0 Italian Cup win over Napoli chanted racist slogans about Inter striker Mario Balotelli during halftime.

An appeal was made over the stadium’s public address system asking the fans to stop the taunts, but to they persisted after the interval

Last season, Juve were ordered to play a home game without any fans for another incident of racism aimed at Balotelli, who is of Ghanian descent. The Turin team has also been hit repeatedly with financial sanctions for racism.

This ban will take effect against Roma on January 23.

Juventus have indicated that they would not appeal against the ban.
