Bundesliga leader Borussia Dortmund fears Shinji Kagawa will be out for the rest of the season after the Japan midfielder was injured while playing at the Asian Cup.
The 21-year-old Kagawa returned to Germany with a suspected broken metatarsal in his right foot.
Borussia coach Juergen Klopp says, “It looks like a break. If it’s really a break we don’t have a timeframe – the season will be over for him.”
He added that Dortmund has “alternatives,” saying: “It doesn’t do anything to think about who’s missing for too long.”
Kagawa has been a key performer for Dortmund this season, scoring eight goals in 17 appearances.
