Bayern Munich skipper Oliver Kahn is to undergo surgery on his elbow that will rule him out for at least four weeks, coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has confirmed.

The 38-year-old aggravated an existing injury while warming up before Saturday’s match against Bayer Leverkusen and was replaced by Michael Rensing.

“He’ll be out for four to five weeks,” Hitzfeld told reporters in Munich. “The operation will be done as soon as possible.”
