Tottenham’s out-of-favour keeper, Kasey Keller, has joined German side Borussia Monchengladbach.

The US goalkeeper signed an 18-month contract with the Bundesliga club, after enduring a frustrating campaign at White Hart Lane where he has played second fiddle to Paul Robinson.

A brief loan spell at Southampton failed to bring a permanent move and Keller jumped at the chance to join Borussia, where he will team up with former Spurs colleague Christian Ziege.

“I’m looking forward to a new chapter in my career. The Bundesliga is among the best three leagues in Europe; the stadiums are always full, and football plays a big role in Germany,” Keller told the club’s official website.

“I naturally spoke a lot with Dick Advocaat and also with my agent. Borussia is a club with great tradition, just like my old team Tottenham.”

“I’ve already played with Christian Ziege. I spoke to him by telephone yesterday, and we talked about Borussia.”
