Jurgen Klinsmann is looking to extend his stay as German national coach beyond next year’s World Cup Finals.

The former German international striker informed the German Football Federation that he would be willing to sign a new contract if things go well at the World Cup.

“We are delighted by his comments,” said joint DFB president Theo Zwanziger.

“I have really felt over the last few weeks how much fun he is having doing the job and that he is not just doing things with just the next World Cup in mind.

“It’s great for us to know that we can start planning long term with Jurgen Klinsmann.

“But we know that everything depends on us being successful at the World Cup and that no decision will be made before then, so it’s all the more important that everyone involved in German football pulls together in the coming months to lay the foundation for a successful tournament,” he added.
