Werder Bremen have completed the long-awaited signing of German international striker Miroslav Klose.

The Kaiserslautern forward has agreed a a four-year contract with Bremen in a club record €5 million deal.

“We are very happy that we succeeded in signing the centre forward of the German national team. He is one of the country’s outstanding players and we are sure that he’ll perfectly fit to us,” said Bremen director of sport Klaus Allofs.

Klose was delighted to have joined Thomas Schaaf’s in-form side next summer.

“I have always stressed that I wanted to join a club which plays in Europe, while it’s also important to me to find a club where I really fit in,” he said.

“Werder fulfils all conditions – they have a calm surrounding and a team which plays a superb brand of offensive-minded football.”
