Barcelona president Joan Laporta is confident his club will win the Spanish title.
It is five years since Barcelkona were last crowned Spanish champions, but with Frank Rijkaard’s side enjoying an eight-point lead at the top, the omens for this season look good.
“I am sure that we will go on and win the championship,” said Laporta.
“I have complete faith in all the players and coaching staff.”
Laporta also stated that Barcelona’s recent 1-1 draw with bottom-placed Numancia was a good result given the conditions.
“It was a good point in itself, because it was very hard for us to impose our technical quality on a field like that,” added Laporta.
“When we saw that Real Madrid had lost at Deportivo, our point became even more valuable because we have now increased our lead to eight points.”
