A late strike from Okan Buruk saw Serie A pacesetters Internazionale secure a 2-2 draw at Roma to maintain their lead at the top of Serie A.

Okan collected a pass from international team-mate Emre Belozoglu to beat Francesco Antonioli with a minute of normal time remaining to earn a share of the spoils for Hector Cuper’s side.

After a goalless opening period, Inter went ahead on 57 minutes through Domenico Morfeo, but Roma were level within a couple of minutes as Vincenzo Montella to beat Francesco Toldo from close range.

Roma took the lead on 71 minutes when Gabriel Batistuta to beat Toldo for a second time after 73 minutes only for Okan to have the final say on the stroke of full-time.

Earlier, a fine goal from veteran striker Giuseppe Signori helped Bologna keep pace with the Serie A leaders with a 2-1 home win against Perugia.

Perugia had Iranian defender Rahman Rezaei sent off in added time after a challenge on Bologna’s Julio Ricardo Cruz.

The Argentinian striker put the home side ahead on 31 minutes, and Former Lazio striker Signori doubled the lead seven minutes later with a perfectly placed left-foot drive fromthe edge of the penalty area. Perugia reduced the deficit just before half-time when Andrea Caracciolo lofted the ball over Gianluca Pagliuca, but Bologna held on for a deserved three points.
