Lazio have denied reports that they have sacked coach Mimmo Caso.

The struggling Roman club drew 3-3 with Lecce on Saturday and pressure on Caso has been increasing in recent weeks.

Italian press agency ANSA reported that Caso had been fired, with former Siena coach Giuseppe Papadopulo tipped to be his replacement.

However, a statement from Lazio denies that Caso has left the club.

“SS Lazio absolutely denies what is posted by ANSA press agency and with reference to the presumed sacking of coach Mimmo Caso, to whom we reaffirm our esteem and faith,” read the statement.

Despite this Papadopulo has spoken of his desire to join Lazio.

“I have the will to sit on the bench of such a big club like Lazio,” said Papadopulo.

“But I can only do it with clear conditions.”
