The appointment of former coach of the French national side Roger Lemerre, as coach of Tunisia, has been confirmed afterweeks of wrangling over the issue of compensation.

On Tuesday night Tunisian federation president Ben Ammar confirmed Lemerre had put pen to paper to a four-year contract.

Lemerre was in charge of the Frenmch national side for four years before his sacking in the wake of their dismal performance at the World Cup finals in South Korea/Japan. Two years ago, he successfully led FRance to success at EURO 2004.

Tunisia will pay the French Football Federation (FFF) up to _450,000 in compensation as Lemerre was still under contract with FFF when approached.
