Cristiano Ronaldo bagged 31 goals last season to win the Premier League golden boot. Can anyone stop him this time around?

Manchester United’s Carlos Tevez has risked incurring the wrath of United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, by suggesting that Cristiano Ronaldo should be permitted to complete his dream move to Real Madrid.

The Portugal international’s future has been the subject of intense speculation over the course of the summer, after he confirmed he wanted to join the Spanish champions.

Despite Real’s best efforts to lure the 23-year-old away from Old Trafford, United insist the player is not for sale.

However, Tevez believes that if Ronaldo’s heart is set on a move to the Bernabeu, then United should accede to his wishes.

“The [United] team has great players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, of course,” the Argentinian told AS.

“It’s clear that he is a very important player for us, but this is a personal decision, which is up to only him.

“I understand Cristiano. Every footballer wants to play at Real Madrid. On the other hand, I also think that everyone wants to play for Manchester United, but if what he seeks is something else, I think that should be respected.

“I have not talked to him, but when these things happen, neither side feels good.”
