Jari Litmanen has returned to Finland to play for FC Lahti, following his release from Ajax.

Litmanen left Ajax last week, after the club chose to terminate his contract six weeks early.

Litmanen started his career at Lahti in 1987 and he is happy to return.

“This is a nice option for me,’ said Litmanen.

“I played a part in this club’s beginning and have followed their progress closely.

“Now I have a chance to be a part of the team once again.

“The important thing is for me to get fit again,” he added on Lahti’s website.

“I have had 12 years playing abroad and it will be nice to relax in Lahti.

“I can help the club and they can help me. I have not played much lately due to injury, so it will take me some time to get my rhythm.”
