Liverpool have agreed to sign striker Peter Crouch from Southampton after the clubs agreed a £7million move.

The deal is subject to Crouch passing a medical at Anfield. He is understood to have favoured a move to Liverpool ahead of interest from Middlesbrough, Charlton and West Ham.

Crouch, 24, made his England debut in the 3-2 win over Colombia on 31 May and scored 16 goals for relegated Southampton last season.

The signing of Crouch puts the Liverpool future of striker Milan Baros in further doubt. Baros was left out of Liverpool’s Champions League first round, second leg qualifier against TNS.
