Liverpool to sign Garcia – report

Liverpool are believed to have reached agreement with Barcelona to sign winger Luis Garcia, according to reports coming out of Spain.

Spanish radio claims Barcelona have agreed to the sale of the Spanish international after finally concluding the signing Samuel Eto’o from Real Mallorca.

Liverpool were initially reported to be keen on signing Garcia on loan for the next season, but reports claim they have agreed a 9m euro deal for the player.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is a big fan of the 26-year-old midfielder and tried to sign Garcia when he was in charge of Valencia. He will become his second signing from Spain following last month’s capture of Josemi from Malaga.
