Germany coach Joachim Low will have to watch his de’s quarter-final tie against Portugal from the stands, after he lost his appeal against his sending-off in the 1-0 win over Austria.

Low and Austrian counterpart Josef Hickersberger were dismissed from the dugout by referee Manuel Mejuto Gonzalez five minutes before half-time after a disagreement between the two managers and the fourth official by the technical areas.

Uefa’s disciplinary commission has handed Low a one-match ban, while Hickersberger is also believed to have been dealt the same fate.

Low said in a statement on the German Football Federation’s official website: “I have to acknowledge Uefa’s decision and would not like to comment on it. Naturally I’m extremely disappointed.”
