Portsmouth striker Lomana LuaLua is expected to be out of action for several weeks after contracting malaria.

LuaLua, 24, caught the disease on a visit to Africa to play for DR Congo.

The striker was taken to hospital after collapsing in training and was diagnosed with a serious but not life-threatening type of malaria.

The £1.8m signing from Newcastle is Portsmouth’s top scorer this season with two goals and his loss is another blow for boss Alain Perrin.
