Lyon missed the chance to to back to the top of the French League when they were held 2-2 at Lens.

Antoine Sibierski gave Lens the lead on 19 minutes but Vikash Dhorasoo levellled the scores seven minutes later. Eric Carriere put Lyon ahead on the stroke of half-time, but Sibierski struck his second goal of the night a minute after the restart.

The point saw Lyon cut Marseille’s lead to two points.

Elsewhere, Monaco moved into third place with a 2-0 win at Nantes.

Ludovic Giuly’s fourth-minute strike put the visitors on their way before Shabani Nonda made sure of the points midway through the second half.

“We were a little bit unlucky in our last two outings as we were twice held to a draw,” said Monaco coach Didier Deschamps afterwards.

“Tonight we were rewarded for our efforts.”

Auxerre missed the chance to move to within two points of the summit when they lost 2-0 at Bastia, Franck Silvestre and Florian Maurice scoring the goals for the home side; a result which leaves Auxerre in sixth position.

Paris Saint-Germain moved to within a point of Auxerre with a 1-0 win against Lille, Mauricio Pochettino on target for Luis Fernandez side.

Bordeaux remain level on points with PSG after their 1-0 win away to Troyes.

Struggling Le Havre received a boost with a 2-1 win at Guingamp,ÿas Montpellier lost 1-0 at home to fellow strugglers Ajaccio.

In the night’s other games, Sedan edged out Strasbourg 2-1, while Sochaux overcame Rennes 1-0.
