Manchester United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy is struggling to be fit to face holders Arsenal in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final at Villa Park.

Van Nistelrooy injured a knee as the two sides drew 1-1 in last Sunday’s Premier League clash and Ferguson admits he is looking a doubt for tomorrow’s clash.

“The one serious doubt is Ruud. It’s looking very doubtful for him at the moment,” Ferguson told a news conference on Friday.

“We are hoping there can be a change in the next 24 hours. There were no problems after the game (last Sunday) but when he turned up for training with Holland there was swelling. We are having to work hard to try and get the swelling down.

“He (Van Nistelrooy) is a man who can win a game for us,’ Ferguson added.

‘It would be a bitter blow, but we will get on with it. We have other players who can replace him and different options.’
