Lazio boss Roberto Mancini was furiious with his players after watching them crash out of Europe with a 1-0 defeat at Sparta Prague.

An injury-time goal by Marek Kincl earned Sparta a place in the last 16 and the defeat for Lazio meant that the Italian team finished bottom of the group – thus missing out on the consolation prize of a place in the UEFA Cup.

“We are disappointed because we have had many chances to score goals,” said Mancini.

“We should have scored. I’m angry with those who entered the pitch in the second half and didn’t play as expected.

“I’m really, really angry, I repeat we should have scored.

“If you don’t finish the opportunities you create, it’s difficult to make the next round.

“We knew Besiktas weren’t winning. If you can’t win just a match, you can’t qualify.

“We have not to be discouraged. We have to react. There is the Italian league and Coppa Italia.

“You want to know if in January someone will leave? Anyone could leave.”
