Boosted by his side’s 2-0 win over Juventus, Lazio coach Roberto Mancini has denied that the Biancocelesti are planning to offload any players when the transfer window resopens in January.

Rumours abound in the Italian press that Dejan Stankovic is set for a January move to Internazionale and that Massimo Oddo and Jaap Stam will soon be on their way to Juventus.

However, Mancini remains confident that his side will not be depleted in the new year.

“I know perfectly well that these rumours are groundless,’ he said.

“The players must only think of playing, because wins like Saturday’s over Juventus are good for the management and the whole group.”

Mancini also admitted that he hopes his side’s win over Juventus at the weekend can inspire them to victory over Sparta Prague in the Champions League.

“The win against Juve has increased the confidence within our side because we saw the real Lazio again at the weekend,” said Mancini.

“Unfortunately our qualification doesn’t just depend on us as we must also hope that the other game goes our way.

“We’ll definitely be without Giannichedda and also Lopez, who is set to be out for some time with a knee problem.

“But thankfully I’ll have Stankovic available again and maybe Muzzi who will have a late fitness test tomorrow.”

Lazio need to win in Prague and hope Besiktas fail to beat Chelsea to stand any chance of reaching the next phase of the Champions League.
