Porto president Nuno Pinto da Costa stated today that inspirational midfield player Maniche is staying at the club.

In a bid to quell speculation involving European heavyweights Arsenal, Real Madrid and Juventus, da Costa was adamant that the Portuguese midfielder would be staying put

“We have not considered any offers for him, despite what has been published by the newspapers,” said da Costa.

Following Porto’s Champions League victory and Portugal’s strong showing in Euro 2004, Maniche emerged as one of Europe’s most-wanted midfielders.

“We are not interested in negotiations regarding possible transfers of our players,” added da Costa. ” This summer we have surpassed everything predicted.”

This is reference to the money recouped from the the sales of Deco, Ricardo Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira and Pedro Mendes.

Porto have already re-invested a small portion of this money on players such as Diego and Helder Postiga.
