Marseille coach Jose Anigo has resigned, the French Ligue 1 club have confirmed.

Anigo, 43, was appointed in January as a replacement for Alain Perrin. He will be replaced by another former Marseille coach, Albert Emon, who, uner Anigo, was in charge of the reserve team.

Anigo’s position became precarious after Marseille’s two defeats in less than a week earlier this month to arch-rivals Paris St Germain.

Emon, 51, has been a stand-in coach at Marseille twice before, in the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 seasons.
