Marseille president Pape Diouf says the club has turned down an approach from Manchester City for former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse.
Cisse cost Liverpool £14m when they signed him from Auxerre in July 2004, but after a disappointing spell at Anfield, he returned to France on loan with Marseille in 2005, before completing a permanent move last summer.
Cisse has been linked with a return to the Premier League after failing to secure a regular starting role with the French club this season.
“He is wanted, that is for sure,” said Diouf. “I myself have been approached by Manchester City (about Cisse) but I turned it down categorically.”
