Messina have named Giampiero Ventura as their new manager.

Ventura replaces Bortolo Mutti, who was sacked on Monday by the struggling Serie A side.

Former Udinese and Cagliari boss Ventura remains confident that he can guide Messina to safety.

“Unfortunately, I don’t have a magic wand, but I am well aware of the potential of this squad and I believe they have everything that is needed to survive in Serie A,” said Ventura.

“The lads certainly don’t lack the desire to do the job.”
