Germany international Christoph Metzelder has hinted that he on the verge of joining Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old defender has already informed his current club Borussia Dortmund that he will not be leaving at the end of the season.
Serie A leaders Internazionale were the early front-runners to sign the defender, but Metzelder now looks set for a switch to Spain.
“I haven’t signed anything yet, but things are going that way. I am about to start learning Spanish,” Metzelder told local paper Westfalische Rundschau.
The injury-prone defender, joined Dortmund in 2000 from third-division club Preussen Munster.
