Arsenal remain one point clear at the top of the Premier League after five games, with Liverpool and Chelsea hot on their heels.

Milan general manager Adriano Galliani is glad that the club stood by coach Carlo Ancelotti, despite the team’s disappointing start to the season.

Ancelotti had come in for criticism after his side succumbed to back-to-back losses in the opening two games of the new Serie A season.

However, Milan overwhelmed Lazio 4-1 in the league on Sunday.

“We all kept a cool head and understood this terrible period had to come to an end,” said Galliani.

“Can you imagine if we had hired a new coach who then beat Zurich and Lazio, then everyone would’ve said it was Ancelotti’s fault and this new guy was a genius.

“You need patience in football. This is Ancelotti’s eighth season with us and we are sticking with him.”
