Barcelona and Real Madrid are heavy favourites to win their Copa Del Rey last 16 matches this week

Milan have confirmed that a deal has been reached which will see Antonio Cassano join the club in the new year.

The Italy international will officially link up with the Rossoneri once the Serie A transfer window reopens on 2nd January.

The 28-year-old striker is desperate to leave Sampdoria, after suffering a falling-out with president Riccardo Garrone.

A row with the Samp chief led to him being dropped from the first-team picture, forcing him to look for a New Year move.

“Yes. We will be signing Cassano. I am also very happy with how the side are playing,” club president Silvio Berlusconi confirmed to Adnkronos.

The arrival of Cassano cast doubt on the future of Brazilian playmaker Ronaldinho, who has been below his best this season.

“It is a shame for Ronaldinho,” Berlusconi added. “At the moment, he has not been playing well or training as well as he can.”
